Who we are

This website is operated by Moncau Investments and Services LLC, a Florida limited liability company doing business as Umbrella.Tax, with offices at 6965 Piazza Grande Ave, Suite 216, Orlando, FL 32835. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean that company.

What this policy covers

It covers information collected through this website and through the engagements that begin here. Tax return information is subject to additional federal rules, described separately below, which are stricter than this policy.

What we collect

  • What you send us. Name, email, phone number, country of residence and whatever you choose to write in the contact form or in an email.
  • What an engagement requires. Once you become a client, the documents and identifiers that a return or a filing cannot be prepared without — which may include taxpayer identification numbers, financial account information and immigration documents.
  • What the site records. Standard server and analytics data, such as pages visited and approximate location derived from an IP address.

We ask you not to send taxpayer identification numbers or financial account numbers through the website contact form.

Your tax return information is governed by federal law

If we prepare or assist in preparing your return, the information you give us for that purpose is tax return information under section 7216 of the Internal Revenue Code. That law, and section 6713 alongside it, restrict a preparer’s disclosure or use of that information, and carry penalties for violations.

In practical terms:

  • We do not disclose or use your tax return information for any purpose other than preparing your return, except where the regulations permit it or where you have given consent.
  • Where consent is required, it is obtained in writing, before the disclosure or use, and it states specifically what is being disclosed or used and to whom. A general or open-ended consent is not valid.
  • You are not required to consent, and we will not condition the preparation of your return on your consenting to an unrelated disclosure or use.

How we protect it

We maintain a written information security program covering administrative, technical and physical safeguards, as required of tax preparation businesses under the Federal Trade Commission’s Safeguards Rule and as described in IRS Publication 4557. No system is immune to every risk, and we do not claim otherwise; what we commit to is a program that is written, maintained and reviewed.

Who else sees it

Service providers who help us operate — software, hosting, secure file exchange, payment processing — under obligations of confidentiality, and only to the extent their function requires. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising purposes.

We also disclose where the law requires it: a subpoena, a court order, or a lawful request from a government authority.

Cross-border handling

Work on a cross-border engagement is performed in the United States and in Brazil, and your information may be processed in both. Where Brazilian law applies to that processing, we handle it accordingly.

Your records

You may ask for the records you gave us at any time. Separately, under the rules governing practice before the IRS, we return promptly any records of yours that you need in order to meet your federal tax obligations, and a dispute over fees does not in itself relieve us of that duty.

How long we keep things

For as long as the engagement and the applicable record-retention rules require, and then no longer than we have a reason to.

Your choices and your rights

You may ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete what we are not required to keep. Residents of certain U.S. states have additional statutory rights over personal information; if you are one, tell us and we will handle your request under the law that applies to you.

You can unsubscribe from any message we send that is not about your engagement.

Children

This site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

We update this policy when our practice changes. The date below is the version you are reading.
